How to read a page

Every sight has two parts, kept apart. The At a glance card holds the official price, copied from the website of the museum, park or body that runs the ticket office, with the date we checked it and the source text at the bottom of the page. The red-topped box holds the resellers' ticket — Tiqets, GetYourGuide, Headout — at today's price.

Official site or reseller?

If the official site has a slot at the time you want, buy there: it's cheaper. The catch is that at the busiest places — the Colosseum, the Last Supper, the Borghese Gallery, the Vatican Museums in high season — slots go weeks ahead, and many official ticket offices don't refund. Resellers hold their own stock and often let you cancel free until the day before: you pay more, but you get in when it suits you.

Before you go

Check three things on each page: whether booking is required, whether the ticket is named (at the Colosseum and Pompeii the name must match your ID), and whether the site takes part in free first Sundays — a scheme for Italian state museums that applies to all visitors. Use the buttons above to filter by city, type of place and official price range.

FAQ

Should I buy from the official site or a reseller?

The official ticket is almost always cheaper. A reseller makes sense when the time slot you need is sold out, when you want free cancellation, or when you want a guided tour included.

Why do resellers cost more?

Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout buy availability in advance and add services (audio guide, guide, cancellation). Each page shows the official price next to the resellers' prices, so you see the gap straight away.

Are the prices up to date?

Reseller prices are refreshed every day. Official prices are copied from the museum's or park's own site: each page shows the date we checked and the source text.
