Reseller prices are refreshed daily; the final price is the one on the partner's site. Resellers cost more than the official ticket because they add availability, free cancellation or services.

Which card do you actually need?

Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso are ordinary villages: you walk in, no ticket. What costs money is the network around them.

If you'll hop between villages by train more than two or three times, take the Train Card and forget about single tickets, which are valid for one journey with no stops in between and must be validated before boarding. If you're staying in one village and walking, the Trekking Card is enough.

Both cards are in your name and must be shown with ID, so bring your passport or ID card on the trail. A card runs until midnight on its last day, whatever time you start. Children under 4 travel free with an adult card holder.

Why the price changes by day

From 14 March to 1 November the Park sets three crowd bands on a calendar (green, yellow, red). The one-day adult Train Card costs €22 on a green day and €35 on a red one. From 2 November to 31 December there's a single, lower winter tariff: €17.30 for one day, €29 for two, €11 for a child.

Bought online, the date can be changed once, at least 24 hours ahead and only within the same band, so a cheap Tuesday can't become a peak Saturday. Refunds only for official weather alerts, force majeure or train strikes.

Cards are sold at the Park Infopoints in the stations from La Spezia to Levanto and on card.parconazionale5terre.it. Buying online the night before means you can walk straight onto the first train.

The Via dell'Amore

The cliffside path between Riomaggiore and Manarola is included in both cards but runs on limited, timed entry. You enter at Riomaggiore and exit at Manarola, one way, in about 30 minutes. From late October to late March it's open 9:00–18:00 (last entry 17:30); from late March to late October until 21:00. Book the slot when you buy the card, or later using the voucher code on your ticket. No booking, no entry.

Trains, boats and winter

The 5 Terre Express runs from mid-March to early November, with extra trains roughly every half hour between Levanto and La Spezia. Outside that window only ordinary regional trains run, so check the timetable before planning four villages in an afternoon. The Park also announces weekends when the line is closed for works; check before you travel, especially in winter.

The boats of the Consorzio Marittimo Turistico Cinque Terre – Golfo dei Poeti link La Spezia, Porto Venere and the villages, with a reduced service even in November and December. Porto Venere isn't on the railway and isn't covered by the Train Card; arriving by boat is the easy way.

Day trips and tours

From Florence, the Cinque Terre is a long day by public transport with several changes. GetYourGuide and Tiqets sell day trips with transport included, continuing by train or boat depending on the product. Some also squeeze in Pisa, which means less time in the villages. They cost more than doing it yourself, but you don't plan anything.

Already in La Spezia? A boat tour shows you the coloured façades from the sea without crowded platforms. Cruise passengers can book GetYourGuide's train shore excursion from La Spezia, designed around getting back to the ship. Always check the product page to see whether the Cinque Terre Card or train tickets are included, because they aren't always.

FAQ

Do you need a ticket to visit the Cinque Terre?

Not for the villages themselves. The Cinque Terre Card is needed for the Blue Trail between Monterosso, Vernazza and Corniglia and for the Via dell'Amore; the Train Card also covers regional trains La Spezia–Levanto.

How much is the Cinque Terre Card?

The one-day Trekking Card is €10 (€15 on peak days). The one-day Train Card is €17.30 from 2 November to 31 December; between 14 March and 1 November it ranges from €22 to €35 depending on the day's crowd band.

Do I have to book the Via dell'Amore?

Yes. It's included in both cards but needs a booked time slot. It's one-way only, from Riomaggiore to Manarola, and takes about 30 minutes.

Is the Cinque Terre Express train a separate ticket?

The 5 Terre Express is Trenitalia's seasonal extra service, mid-March to early November, roughly every half hour between Levanto and La Spezia. You ride it with a Cinque Terre Train Card or a Trenitalia single ticket valid for one journey.

Do I need ID with the Cinque Terre Card?

Yes. The card is personal and non-transferable and must be shown with an identity document.

Can I get a refund if it rains?

Only for an official weather alert, force majeure or a train strike. Light rain doesn't count. Bought online, the date can be changed once, at least 24 hours ahead, within the same price band.
