Booking and prices
The caves are run by the town of Toirano. Every visit is a guided tour with limited numbers, and booking is compulsory. The official site lets you reserve a slot online and pay at the ticket desk on the day; you can also phone during opening hours. Email reservations aren't accepted, and groups of more than 20 must book by phone.
Prices are simple: €16 for adults, €8 for ages 5–18 and for university students up to 24 with a student card. Families with more than one child pay €6 for each child aged 5–14. Children up to 5 are free. Your cave ticket also gets you into the Ethnographic Museum up in the village at no extra cost.

Opening days
From 1 October to 30 November the caves open Wednesday to Sunday only, 9:00–12:30 and 14:00–16:30, closed Monday and Tuesday. There's a lunch break in the middle, so a 13:00 arrival means waiting. Hours change in other months; check the official page before driving over.
On the tour
The tour lasts 70 minutes. It's 16 °C and 98% humidity underground, so bring a layer even on a beach day. Shoes are enforced: closed toes and rubber soles. Flip-flops, sliders, Crocs, open sandals, heels and leather soles can get you turned away, booking or not. Visitors of any age can do the route, but it isn't suitable for people with serious mobility impairments.
Getting there
By car, take the A10 (Autostrada dei Fiori) to the Borghetto Santo Spirito exit from either Genoa or Ventimiglia, then 3 km on the provincial road to Toirano; there's a large car park at the caves. After the tour, walk up into the medieval village for the Ethnographic Museum, already covered by your ticket. Without a car, take the train to Loano and then TPL bus 81 along the Via Aurelia, which stops at the cave car park, or a taxi from Loano station.
