Reseller prices are refreshed daily; the final price is the one on the partner's site. Resellers cost more than the official ticket because they add availability, free cancellation or services.
The official ticket in one paragraph
There is one ticket. It costs €16 at the desk, or €17 if you book on the gallery's own website, which gets you a 30-minute time slot and lets you skip the ticket desk. Online tickets are non-refundable and can't be changed, and if you turn up late for your slot the guards can refuse entry. Children under 12 are free; that, plus free entry for disabled visitors, is the whole list of concessions.
The weekly closing day is Wednesday, which catches out a lot of people who assume Monday. Friday to Sunday the gallery opens and closes an hour later.
Booking direct vs resellers
Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout all sell entry here, often labelled "with audio guide". Worth knowing: the official ticket already includes an audio guide in English. Resellers cost more; what you get is availability when the gallery's own slots are gone and, with some products, free cancellation, which the gallery itself doesn't offer. The gallery warns that it doesn't vouch for tickets bought elsewhere, so read the voucher and make sure it is a straight entry ticket, not a meeting-point exchange.
A guided tour pays off here more than in most palaces. Paintings are hung frame to frame up to the ceiling, the way the family hung them, and a guide stops you walking past the Velázquez portrait of Innocent X with everyone else.
The Secret Apartments are a separate ticket
The Secret Apartments and the Bath of Diana are in the same palace but run by a different body, the Trust Floridi Doria Pamphilj. Your gallery ticket does not cover them. GetYourGuide sells the apartments tour; if you want both, plan two entries.
Practical bits
- Bags: no cloakroom and no large bags or backpacks allowed.
- Getting there: the entrance is at Via del Corso 305, a short walk from Piazza Venezia and the Pantheon. From Termini, bus 64 to Piazza Venezia, then 100 metres up Via del Corso.
- Time: allow about 90 minutes.
- Not to be confused with Villa Doria Pamphilj, the big public park in Monteverde, or Palazzo Pamphilj on Piazza Navona, which is the Brazilian Embassy.
