Sansevero Chapel & Veiled Christ tickets
Private museum · compulsory timed booking · closed Tuesdays
To see the Veiled Christ you need a ticket for a set date and time slot: booking is compulsory because daily entries are capped. A standard ticket is €12 on the museum's own site, which releases tickets 60 days ahead and an extra batch two days before each date. If your day is sold out, try again two days before, or book a reseller's guided tour that includes entry.

Booking rules that catch people out
Sansevero is a small private museum with a daily cap on visitors, and it runs a strict timed-entry system on its own website. What you need to know:
- Tickets go on sale 60 days ahead.
- An extra batch appears two days before each date. If your day says sold out, check again two days before.
- The ticket desk has no hidden stock. It sells the same slots you see online, and only to parties of up to 9. No phone or email bookings.
- You have 10 minutes' grace after your slot. Miss it and the ticket is lost: no refunds, no date changes.
- Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay, Google Pay or MyBank. You receive a PDF and show it at the chapel door, printed or on your phone.
Prices
Standard €12. Reduced €8 for ages 18–26 (26 included), €6 for ages 10–17. Free for children up to 9, disabled visitors, and licensed tour guides showing their badge; a disabled visitor who needs a companion gets a single €7 ticket for both. The museum's price list doesn't limit the 18–26 rate to EU citizens. There's no first-Sunday free entry and no group discount.
The audio guide costs €3.50 (two for €6) and comes in English, Italian, French, Spanish and German, with a separate children's version. If you add it when booking, you collect it inside the museum, not at the ticket desk.
Official ticket or a guided tour
If the museum's calendar has your slot, the official ticket plus audio guide is all most visitors need. The museum's own guided visits only run on certain days, mostly Friday to Sunday and around holidays.
Resellers are useful when dates are sold out or when you want a person, not a recording, to explain what you're looking at. Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout sell guided visits with entry included, and some sell entry with an audio guide. They cost more than the museum's price; in exchange they often have availability when the official calendar doesn't, and their cancellation terms tend to be easier than the museum's no-refund rule.
Inside the chapel
Your ticket covers the whole museum: the nave with the Veiled Christ and the allegorical statues such as Modesty (Pudicizia) and Disillusion (Disinganno), the underground Cavea with the two "anatomical machines", and the sacristy, now the bookshop. Most people head straight for the Veiled Christ; don't skip the Cavea, it's included.
The no-photo rule is absolute: no pictures, no video, no phone in hand.
Wheelchair users can see the nave with the Veiled Christ and the sacristy. The Cavea is reached only by a narrow period spiral staircase, so it isn't accessible.
Hours and getting there
Open daily 9am–7pm, closed Tuesdays, last entry 6:30pm. Around public holidays the museum adds special openings (including some Tuesdays) and stays open until 8:30pm; the dates are on its hours page.
The address is Via Francesco De Sanctis 19/21, a minute's walk from Via dei Tribunali and two from Spaccanapoli in the historic centre. From Napoli Centrale, take Metro Line 1 to Università or Dante, or Line 2 to Cavour, then walk. Napoli Sotterranea and the Cathedral with the Treasure of San Gennaro are in the same few streets, so they fit into one morning.
FAQ
How much are Sansevero Chapel tickets?
€12 standard. €8 for ages 18–26, €6 for ages 10–17, free up to age 9. The optional audio guide, available in English, costs €3.50.
Do I have to book the Veiled Christ in advance?
Yes. Entries are limited and an online booking for a date and time slot is the only way to be sure of getting in. Your ticket is valid until 10 minutes after the slot time.
When are Sansevero Chapel tickets released?
Sixty days before each date. The museum then releases an extra batch of tickets online two days before each visiting day.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
Only parties of up to 9, and only for slots still showing as available online; the desk has no extra stock. Phone and email bookings are not accepted.
Can I take photos of the Veiled Christ?
No. Photos, video and phone use are all banned inside the museum.
How long does a visit take?
There's no set time; the museum says anything from a few minutes to over an hour. The audio guide covers the whole route in about 25 minutes.
Is it free on the first Sunday of the month?
No. The museum is private, gets no public funding and does not take part in Italy's free-Sunday scheme.
