Reseller prices are refreshed daily; the final price is the one on the partner's site. Resellers cost more than the official ticket because they add availability, free cancellation or services.
Tickets and time slots
The Guggenheim is a private museum: no free Sundays, and it isn't in any civic museum pass. A ticket is €17; €14 for over-70s; €9 for students under 26 with a valid student card; free for children up to 10. Discounts are open to all nationalities, but if you buy a reduced ticket online you must show proof when you collect it.
Tickets come with an entry time slot, sold until each slot is full, and the museum recommends buying online. In quiet months you can often buy at the door; in peak months don't count on it. If the official site has nothing left for your time, Tiqets, Headout and GetYourGuide sell skip-the-line tickets at a higher price than the museum's own.
Hours: watch out for Tuesday
Open daily 10am–6pm, closed Tuesdays and 25 December. The ticket office and last entry are at 5pm; staff start closing at 5:50pm. Tuesday is when visitors find the gate shut — if your trip includes one, plan the Guggenheim for another day.
Before you go in
Bags, backpacks and suitcases stay out; leave them in the free lockers at the ticket office. No food or drink, garden included. Dress code is simple: no shirtless visitors, swimwear or bare feet.
The audio guide is €7 at the desk, in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish. Before paying for it, catch one of the free talks the museum runs every day about Peggy Guggenheim's life and collection — for many people that's enough context. On Saturdays and Sundays at 11am there's also a scheduled guided tour of the permanent collection in English.
A partner's guided tour makes sense if you want a longer story about 20th-century art, or want to combine the Guggenheim with other Dorsoduro stops under the same guide.
Getting there and pairing it
The museum is Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the Grand Canal between the Accademia bridge and the Salute church. By vaporetto: line 1 to Accademia or Salute, line 2 to Accademia. From the train station or Piazzale Roma, take line 1 or 2 in the Lido direction.
It pairs naturally with the Gallerie dell'Accademia, a short walk away: old Venetian masters in the morning, Pollock, Magritte and Calder in the afternoon. The two have different tickets and closing days, so check both. Allow at least an hour and a half for the collection, plus time on the terrace over the Grand Canal.
