Reseller prices are refreshed daily; the final price is the one on the partner's site. Resellers cost more than the official ticket because they add availability, free cancellation or services.
Four catacombs, four ticket offices
There is no single "Rome catacombs" ticket. Each catacomb open to visitors sells its own tickets and keeps its own calendar. What they share is the price, €10 full and €7 reduced (ages 7–16 and a few other groups), and the rule that you only go down with a guide from the catacomb's own staff. An outside guide can't take you in. Children up to 6 and visitors with a disability above 74% (plus a companion where required) go free.
- San Callisto, Via Appia Antica 110. The largest and the busiest, with the Crypt of the Popes and the Crypt of St Cecilia. Online booking is required, and online sales are handled by Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi, the only authorised channel. Tours leave every 30 minutes. Closed Wednesdays. Cash and cards accepted at the desk.
- San Sebastiano, Via Appia Antica 136. Reserve your slot and language for free and pay €10 at the desk, or pay €12 online in advance (the extra €2 is the booking fee). The tour ends inside the Basilica of San Sebastiano. Closed Mondays.
- Priscilla, Via Salaria 430, in a residential area north of the centre. Everyone must book; pay on site or online with a €2 surcharge. On Sundays it opens at 11:30 am. Closed Mondays.
- Domitilla, Via delle Sette Chiese 282. It has the only half-underground basilica in Rome. Open every day except Tuesday; book via the form on its website or by phone on +39 06 5110342.
Picking one, and picking the day
For a first visit, one catacomb is enough. San Callisto and San Sebastiano sit on the same road a short walk apart, so they are the easiest pair if you are already out on the Appian Way.
The calendar matters more than the choice. San Callisto, Priscilla and Domitilla also close for lunch (12–2 pm or 1–2 pm), so a noon arrival means waiting. In winter there's a long gap: Priscilla closes for maintenance from 11 January to 1 February 2027, and San Callisto from 13 January to 10 February 2027. For the last weeks of January, plan on San Sebastiano or Domitilla. Priscilla also closes on 1 November, 8 December, 24–26 December, 1 and 6 January and Easter Sunday.
Official ticket or transfer tour
The official ticket is the cheapest way in, and the guide is already included. The catch is transport. Bus 118 from Colosseo or Circo Massimo is the usual route; bus 660 runs from Arco di Travertino on Metro A. Allow time for waiting.
Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout sell two different products. One is plain entry to a named catacomb with its guided tour, handy if you'd rather pay by card on an English-language site or want the partner's cancellation terms. The other is a tour with a round-trip transfer from the centre out to the Appian Way, often combined with the Capuchin Crypt on Via Veneto. Those cost more, but they remove the bus question entirely, which helps with kids, in summer heat or on a tight schedule.
Before you buy a tour, check which catacomb it actually visits. San Sebastiano's own site warns about this: some packages leave it open or decide on the day.
Before you go down
It is cool underground: around 16–17 °C at San Callisto and San Sebastiano, about 13 °C at Priscilla, with high humidity. Bring a layer even in August.
Steps are the real limit. San Callisto has about 50 uneven steps each way, no lift and nowhere to sit; San Sebastiano's route has about 100 steps. Neither is suitable for wheelchairs, and the tours aren't recommended if you're claustrophobic. San Sebastiano asks for clothing suitable for a sacred site.
Tickets are non-refundable. Be at the entrance at least 15 minutes before your slot: at San Sebastiano, after that your place can be given to someone else.
