One ticket, three days
There's a single ticket for the Paestum and Velia archaeological parks. It covers the temple site, the National Archaeological Museum, and Velia, a separate Greek site further south in the Cilento. It's valid for 3 days: €15 from March to November, €10 from December to February. Visitors aged 18 to 24 pay €2 and under-18s go free.
You don't need to book. Ticket offices are at Porta Principale, next to the Temple of Neptune, and at the Museum, open until 6:30pm.
The winter-hours catch
The site opens 8:30am–7:30pm, last entry 6:30pm. From late September to late March, though, the northern Porta Cerere gate closes early, and a full visit of the site is only possible until an earlier cut-off. That's 3:30pm from 25 October to 13 November and 3pm from 14 November to 1 January. After that you can only visit the southern sanctuary, with the Basilica and the Temple of Neptune. In winter, arrive by early afternoon if you also want the Temple of Athena at the northern end.
Guides and audio guides
The park has no in-house guided tours. It points visitors to guides licensed by the Campania region, so this is where resellers are useful. Tiqets and Headout sell skip-the-line entry with a guided tour, and Headout also has entry with an audio guide. From Naples there are packages with a round-trip train ticket, handy without a car. GetYourGuide has private tours with an archaeologist and half-day combos with a buffalo-mozzarella farm.
If you just need entry, the official ticket is cheaper.
Practical tips
There's no cloakroom, and bulky backpacks and bags aren't allowed on site. Don't bring luggage on a day trip. The park recommends flat shoes. A step-free route crosses the site north to south and goes inside the Basilica, and the Museum is fully accessible. Entry is free on the first Sunday of the month and on 25 April, 2 June and 4 November, with no booking. Allow at least half a day for the temples plus the Museum.
