How the tour works

The tour is run by Sport e Salute in partnership with AS Roma, SS Lazio and the Italian Football Federation. It isn't a self-guided museum: groups go in every 30 minutes with hosts who explain what you're looking at, and the whole thing takes 40–45 minutes. The basic tour is €15 plus a booking fee. Under-6s are free but need a voucher from the ticket office before going in. There's no family discount.

Official tickets are sold on stadioolimpicotour.vivaticket.it, at Vivaticket outlets and at the tour's own office at Via dei Gladiatori 2, open daily 10:00–18:00. The official page says tours are sold by reservation while places last, so pick a time slot before crossing town at the weekend.

Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout resell the same official tour. If you already keep your trip in one of those apps, it's a convenient place to hold the ticket; the tour itself doesn't change.

What you see, and what you don't

You start in the tunnel the team coaches drive through, now the Tunnel of Legends with memorabilia from Totti, Chinaglia, Zoff and others, then the mixed zone, the dressing rooms of Roma, Lazio and the national team, the walk-out to the pitch and a room on Italian rugby. It ends at the stadium store and bistro. Pitchside you stop at the artificial turf in front of the benches: a photo in the dugout area yes, a penalty kick no. The route can change when the stadium is hosting events, and on match days the tour doesn't run at all, so check both clubs' fixtures before you go.

Wheelchair users can access the entrance, Tunnel of Legends, mixed zone, dressing rooms, pitch area and bar.

Match tickets are separate

A tour ticket has nothing to do with match tickets, and the tour office doesn't sell them. To watch Roma or Lazio, go through the clubs' own sales channels. If you'd rather not deal with that, GetYourGuide sells matches with a local fan who takes you along, and hospitality seats.

Getting there

The stadium is in the Foro Italico, north of the centre. The tour entrance is on Viale dei Gladiatori 1 by the Monte Mario stand, with free parking outside. By public transport: Metro A to Ottaviano and bus 32, or Lepanto and bus 301, getting off at Lungotevere Cadorna and walking over the Ponte della Musica. Bus 168 runs from Tiburtina station to Largo Maresciallo Diaz.
